My story

I was in my third year of university studying to be an accountant.  I thought I had everything figured out.  But apparently God had other plans.  I felt God calling me to full time ministry while attending a conference called Cross the Street.  More specifically, I felt God wanted to use me in the Jane-Finch community.

Several months after the conference, something happened that would change the course of my life.  An 11 year old boy was tragically shot and killed by a stray bullet while at his cousin’s birthday party in July 2007.  This gang shooting took place directly across the street from my church.  Devastated by this incident, our church responded in the way God had prepared us to do several months earlier…by crossing the street.

The best is yet to come

Since then I have been crossing streets across the Jane-Finch community working for Ephraim’s Place, a nonprofit organization that our church started after the death of that young boy.  I’ve spent my time doing things like beating kids in basketball, painting homes, helping out in different neighbourhoods, hanging out in after school programs, and trying to love on as many people as possible.  You can see some of what I’m talking about here.

I believe the best is yet to come for the Jane-Finch community.  In fact, I’m crazy excited about something I’ve been planning the past few years that God has placed on my heart.  It’s called Awaken and you can learn more about it here.
